August 7, 2008: Firefighters were dispatched for black smoke coming from the door on the 3rd floor of a 10 story high-rise apartment building. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the apartment with no extension to the hallway. All searches were negative and there were no reported injuries.
July 30, 2008: Another Automatic alarm proves its worth by alerting firefighters of a basement fire at 14 Mt. Carmel Pl. this afternoon. Car 10 arrived on scene reporting smoke from the basement and for Engine 1 to stretch a line. The fire was knocked down within a few minutes and this was attributed to the fire alarm system and quick response. The fire was contained to the area of origin and companies took up within an hour.
July 14, 2008: Firefighters were dispatched for an Automatic Alarm just after 6:30 pm to 22 Garfield Pl. Units were checking the residence when Car 10 notified C911 that they were investigating a wood burning smell in the basement. After further investigation, companies found fire in the walls and Car 10 transmitted the 10-75 bringing in Fairviews FAST team.
May 26, 2008: Engine 2 was special called for a fire in a 1 story multiple dwelling in Hyde Park. Upon arrival, Engine 2 was directed to assist the first due crews. One of the apartments that burned belonged to Jason Simpson, a career Firefighter with the Fairview Fire District. MAY 13, 2008: City Firefighters were called for a reported structure fire at 120 Thopmson St. at around 5:15pm this evening. First due Engine 2 transmitted the 10-75 with smoke showing. Engine 2 quickly contained the fire to the exterior wall. City fire was assisted by the Fairview Fire District with their FAST Team. All units cleared the scene within one hour.
May 13, 2008: Engine 2 and Tower Ladder 2 were special called for a Second Alarm fire on Jones St. in the Arlington Fire District. Both companies assisted first due units on the third floor and the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes.
